Blue Queen (dam of REPROCOLOR) was not a winner but was a half sister to the brilliant 5 furlong performer Sandford Lad - winner of the Nunthorpe St, now named the Sprint Championship (Gr1) and also winner of the most important French sprint race the Prix de L'Abbaye (Gr1). Even more significant, Blue Queen traces back to Fair Isle - winner of the classic 1000 Guineas (Gr1) Newmarket and herself a full sister to two classic performers and influential sires Pharos and Fairway. This is undoubtedly one of the most famous throughbred families in the Stud Book - REPROCOLOR being inbred to Tourbillion and an outcross to both Nearco and Hyperion, providing considerable benefit when mating with Nearco or Hyperion influenced stallions.

REPROCOLOR was trained by Michael Stoute in Newmarket and was placed third in her only two races at 2 years. She progressed as a 3 year old to win the Pretty Polly St (L) Newmarket, Lingfield Oaks Trial (Gr3) and Lancashire Oaks (Gr3) Haydock Park. She was third in the Yorkshire Oaks (Gr1) and 4th in classic Oaks (Gr1) Epsom, when Britannia Rule finished just in front of her in 3rd place, after having led all the way down the hill and round the Tattenham Corner close on the rails she was seriously disadvantaged in the very soft conditions, which due to the camber of the course made the ground very slow and heavy on the rails. REPROCOLOR proved her superiority when beating Britannia Rule on 5lbs worse terms than in the Epsom Oaks and beating her quite confortably in the Lancashire Oaks, indicating that she was decidely unfortunate in the Epsom Oaks, when in more favourable conditions, or avoiding the inside berth, she would at least have been second and possibly could have been a Group 1 classic winner.

REPROCOLOR was awarded the T.B.A. Broodmare of the Year prize in 1986. She is the dam of:-
